The Parade of Sail
Boat owners are encouraged to join the thrilling Parade of Sail up the Piscataqua and escort the Tall Ships to their berths. When the weather permits, the Hampton High Flyers provide aerial cover. Joined by fireboats from the Navy and local fire departments, the Parade of Sail is best witnessed from the good viewing spots on Four Tree Island, the Kittery Point Yacht Club and the Memorial Bridge sidewalk in Portsmouth, the Portsmouth Yacht Club and Great Island Common on New Castle Island, and Ft. Foster in Kittery, Maine. Don't miss it.
A Welcoming Ceremony officially opens Sail Portsmouth each year. During the ceremony, the PMC and local dignitaries and politicians make sure the ships, their captains and crews and our visitors feel welcome to be part of the celebration.
The Piscataqua Maritime Commission will host the Captain's Reception on Saturday July 28 at 6:00 PM. We will recognizes the Captains and Crews of the tall ships as well as the many sponsors who make this tall ship celebration possible.
Volunteer's Barbecue and Celebration
Sail Portsmouth is possible without all our wonderful volunteer's. In appreciation of all their work, PMC will host a dockside barbecue for all volunteers on Sunday July 29. The ship will be open for tours so those volunteers who have not had to chance may explore this remarkable vessel.
