Our Nation's Tall Ship, the US Coast Guard's Eagle will highlight the Tall Ships festival in  2019

The Piscataqua Maritime Commission proudly hosts Sail Portsmouth each summer, and will again in 2019 bringing the Eagle to the New Hampshire Seacoast. Activities include the Parade of Sail, Deck Tours, Captain's Reception, Day Sails, Exhibits, Food, Music, and Souvenirs! A fun event for pirates of all ages!

The Vessels of 2018

In 2018, Portsmouth and New Castle were home to three Tall Ships.

All of these tall ships helped lead the "Parade of Sail" on July 25.

The Schooner Harvey Gamage provided 2-hour Day Sails

and 2-hour Sunset Cruises








Over 8000 peopled toured the fully rigged, three masted ship

The PMC is in the process of scheduling the Tall Ships and calendar for Summer 2019.  Please check back for more details.


The best way to obtain tickets for 2019 will be to purchase on-line.  Once dates are determined, tickets will become available.

The Parade of Sail (to be scheduled for 2019)

Boat owners are encouraged to join the thrilling Parade of Sail up the Piscataqua and escort the Tall Ships to their berths.  When the weather permits, the Hampton High Flyers provide aerial cover.  Joined by fireboats from the Navy and local fire departments, the Parade of Sail is best witnessed from the good viewing spots on Four Tree Island, the Kittery Point Yacht Club and the Memorial Bridge sidewalk in Portsmouth, the Great Island Common on New Castle Island, and Ft. Foster in Kittery, Maine.  Don't miss it.

Welcoming Ceremony

A Welcoming Ceremony officially opens Sail Portsmouth each year. During the ceremony, the PMC and local dignitaries and politicians make sure the ships, their captains and crews and our visitors feel welcome to be part of the celebration.

Captain's Reception

The Piscataqua Maritime Commission will host the Captain's Reception again in 2019.  We will recognize the Captains and Crews of the tall ships as well as the many sponsors who make this tall ship celebration possible.

Volunteer's Barbecue and Celebration

Sail Portsmouth is  possible without all our wonderful volunteer's.  In appreciation of all their work, PMC will host a dockside barbecue for all volunteers. The ship will be open for tours so those volunteers who have not had to chance may explore this remarkable vessel.

Private On-board Receptions

Is your group interested in hosting a catered, evening reception aboard a Tall Ship?  We can help make it happen. It is a classy way for businesses to thank  customers and clients, or non-profits to thank donors.  It could also be a fun event for your club or association.
