Become a Volunteer
Our events rely on our volunteers. We have no paid staff. Volunteering for Sail Portsmouth or Sea Challenge is fun, educational and makes a real difference in our community. Please contact us today and become a volunteer!
If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out the form and tell us how we can reach you.
Volunteers are needed to make sure our visitors are safe and have a good time. If you are a Day Sail volunteer, you may help with the mooring lines, direct traffic and check in passengers. At the main event, you may help visitors on the docks and gangways, or sell beverages and merchandise, or provide dock security, assist with crowd control and or parking. You should be prepared to take care of whatever else pops up – something always does! You are given a tee shirt and all the cold water you need. You are entitled to free tours of the ships. In appreciation, you are invited to the Volunteer Cook-out after the event closes on Sunday evening. It’s a great way to meet other Volunteers, PMC board members and some of the ships’ crews.
Occasionally, Volunteers are needed for other activities such as our Sea Challenge program other special projects. For example, in early 2018, our volunteers will provide support for the United States Navy’s commissioning ceremony for their newest Littoral Ship, the USS Manchester, in Portsmouth Harbor. We will announce the exact date soon.
Again, Sail Portsmouth and Sea Challenge could not happen without our Volunteers. Please get involved in this fun, worthwhile organization. Become a Volunteer! If you are interested, please fill out the form.
