Sail Portsmouth Festival
Sail Portsmouth Festival
The Parade of Sail kicks off Sail Portsmouth with tall ships leading hundreds of other boats, both civilian and otherwise, up to Piscataqua River, under the Memorial Bridge and then to the dock. In 2019, the Grand Commodore was U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen and the headlining tall ship was the USCG Eagle. After an opening ceremony, the tall ships are open for tours.
The tours are often the highlight of Sail Portsmouth, creating one of the busiest, event-filled summer weekends on the Seacoast. On the way to the tours, people can linger in the maritime tent to enjoy the exhibits and even meet some pirates, some complete with a real peg leg and parrot.
Due to the logistical issues, Sail Portsmouth 2021 has been cancelled, but stay tuned for details about 2022.
